Five Questions With Director of Catering, Carissa Llewellyn-Burns:
1. How many years have you been with Dubsdread Catering?
I have been working with Dubsdread Catering for over seven years. I moved here from Pennsylvania in the Winter of 2013 (it was nine degrees when I left! Yikes!). I began working at Dubsdread Catering as a Banquet Server and then moved into manager training in the office in the Summer of 2013. I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced life of catering.
2. What is your college and/or life experience that prepared you for this position?
I studied Communications/Journalism with an emphasis in Electronic Media and minored in Psychology at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Although I moved from one small town to another small college town, I was excited for the move to Orlando and a more sunny and busy life.
3. What are your plans for your future career/personal growth?
My husband and I are trying to start a family, so our new adventures are to come. But as of right now, we are enjoying our time with our pride and joy, Roxy aka Dubsdread Catering’s Banquet Operations Ambassador.
4. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy movies, music and my new pool that completes my Florida lifestyle transition well! And of course, spending time with my best gal, Roxy.
5. What do you enjoy most about your position?
My favorite part of working for Dubsdread Catering is the feedback after the events. Whether it is seeing all the amazing wedding photos from the big day, the nice thank you emails from clients, or those appreciative reviews online – it is always nice to see your hard work really made someone’s day exceptional. From the first call from a client or couple looking to book one of our exclusive venues or book our catering services for another venue, the journey is just beginning and I look forward to each milestone with my couples leading up to and including being there on their special day to see it unfold just the way they envisioned it. With a wedding, that can be a one to two year journey, so I feel lucky that I get to form a real connection to the people, the planning and finally the day of with lots of smiles and laughter – it just makes the all of the time spent getting there worth it.
