An Interview with Corner House Photography

A Florida-based wedding photography company, Corner House Photography has wedding photographer teams in Orlando and Tampa who travel throughout the sunny state capturing and creating beautiful wedding imagery to tell the story of your special day.

Here Samantha shares her experience and answers to some frequently asked questions: 

How long have you been in the industry? 

Corner House Photography has “officially” been in the wedding industry since 2014, however we began capturing large scale events back in 2012. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost ten years.

How many weddings do you do annually? 

With an awesome staff of eight, including myself, and we captured over 160 weddings last year from Orlando to Tampa to the Florida Keys – we go everywhere in the Sunshine State.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day? 

I must say that I am totally biased, because newlywed portraits are my personal favorite of every wedding day. Being able to have a moment alone with the just married couple to capture the true essence of what their day is about, the two of them, brings me so much joy.

How would you describe your style? 

Our team’s style is most definitely contemporary, which simply means we capture a mix of both candid and traditional imagery. Our candid images are simply those moments in time where the couple, bridal party, or guests are not necessarily paying attention or even know that the camera is on them. Our traditional images are a mix of family formals looking at the camera, and what I called “unposed poses” where our couples know we are there and are in on guiding them through natural poses of the two of them and of course a few smiling shots at the camera as well.

What kind of packages do you offer? 

Package wise, we offer three different options of affordable high-end packages that range from myself plus a second shooter, just me, or one of our team members. All of our packages are fully inclusive, meaning we include an engagement session free of charge, unlimited online gallery, editing, and print release.

How far in advance do you recommend couples book their photographers? 

I would say that it depends more on the time of year you have booked your wedding, but in general the rule of thumb is at least one year out. However, with that being said, going back to the time of year, we have had couples book us out two years in advance for busy months like February, March, October, and November, to last minute destination weddings only days in advance.

What advice do you give to couples when choosing a photographer?

Such a great question! I would say it comes down to reviews, content, and communication. Review-wise, you should be able to see recent positive reviews across on multiple sites, along with reviews from the past few years. Regarding content, you should be able to view a significant number of weddings on the photographer’s website and feel a connection with the images you see, for example we have over 300+ weddings featured on our website. Last but not least, communication is key! Capturing the big day is just one part of the communication throughout the wedding planning process. Your photography team should be keeping in contact with you and responding in a timely manner not only leading up to the big day and but afterwards when it comes to delivering your images.

What is a pet peeve of yours during a wedding?

This is an easy one for me, my team and I have high standards for how we conduct ourselves at a wedding and take pride in our professionalism. We have unfortunately seen vendors drinking as well as being “too” comfortable with the couple and guests. It’s just not necessary as it takes the focus off their responsibilities. Not that we aren’t fun and interactive with our clients, but ultimately we are not guests we are professionals there to provide our services.

What sets you apart from other photographers?

Honestly, we really care. Our team cares that the experience leading up to the big day is incredibly positive and organized, so that on our couples’ wedding days we are a shoulder to lean on and provide direction when needed – along with having a little fun! After the big day we absolutely ensure to keep our communication open through the entire gallery, editing, and delivering of the final products in a timely manner.
