Q&A WITHCARISSA:

What were you (or Connor) most excited about for his second birthday party?

Too many things! I we were excited for the mini horse we booked to attend. Check out @ziptheminihorse on Instagram, he was awesome! Of course, we were excited to see all of our family and friends, many who traveled far to come celebrate Connor’s second birthday. We were also excited to play all the fun games from the 1990s we pulled together for the party!

What aspect were you excited to plan the most?

The theme! We went with a Toy Story and 1990s theme and stuck to is as much as possible. We had a lot of games from the 1990s like Trouble, Connect 4, Speak & Say, and Barrell of Monkeys. Then we incorporated characters from the Toy Story movies as much as possible, including individually hand made Forkys for the cupcake toppers!

How do you feel the planning went?

Great! I started earlier this year as last year I got COVID-19 and food poisoning in the weeks leading up to his first birthday party so this year I was prepared ahead of time!

What did you find to be more difficult than you expected?

The menu because I based it on clever ideas I found off of Pinterest, but I’m not sure how well they really went together.

Our menu was:

• Vegetable Crudités with Dip "Rex's Herbivore Garden"
• Potato Salad "Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head Salad"
• Strawberry Parfaits "Lotso's Strawberries Parfaits"
• BBQ Brined Chicken - "Al's Chicken"
• Macaroni & Cheese - "Slinky's Mac & Cheese"
• Pizza Bites – “Pizza Planet”
• Pigs in a Blanket "Hamm's Pigs in a Blanket"
• Assorted Cookies & Brownies "Jessie's Cowgirl Cookies" & "Woody's Haystacks"
• “Mrs. Nesbit’s Sweet Iced Tea”
• “Space Ranger Fuel”

What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?

Watching Connor ride the mini horse! He loved petting Zip!

Is there anything you would do differently?

No – we had a great time! Just enjoyed socializing and catching up with everyone!
