How/where did you get engaged?
Jacob booked a long weekend trip to visit New Orleans for the first time. Jacob planned a full weekend of experiences, with the final festivity being a cruise on the Natchez Steamboat down the Mississippi River. They got up to take a photo on the back of the boat with the foggy cityscape in the distance, and that's when Jacob surprised Callahan with a beautiful proposal!
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?Celebrating our love with our friends and family. We have a large family, and it is always great getting everyone together. After 10 years together, it will be fun to share this special day with all of the people who have supported us along the way.
What aspect are you excited to plan the most? (Ceremony, food & beverages, photographer, DJ)
We are most excited to plan the menu. Our family gatherings are usually centered around delicious food, so we can't wait to have an amazing meal with our guests!
A FEW MONTHS OUT / PLANNING PROCESS:
How do you feel the planning is going?
The planning is going well, and everyone we have spoken with has been extremely responsive. The communication and service of our day-of coordinator, David Osmola, has been great!
What have you found to be more difficult than you expected?
We have found making a final decision on things has been the most difficult, because there are infinite options for everything! Also, making sure all the different vendors are on the same page.
What has been more fun about the process than you expected?
Visualizing our day as a whole has been more fun than we expected. We have enjoyed planning special details that will be meaningful to our friends and family.
WEDDING DAY:
What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?
We both loved the ceremony, and specifically walking down the aisle. It was a perfect day with fantastic weather, and the ambiance of The Historic Dubsdread Ballroom courtyard was magical!
If you could change one or two things about your event, what would they be?
We honestly would not change a single thing! The entire evening went so smoothly. We still can't get over how great it was.
Is there any advice you would give other couples planning their event that you wish some-one had told you?
Lots of planning pays off...it makes the entire event worth all of the effort! Also, take the time to absorb the surroundings and your thoughts during the day because it goes by quickly!
