ONE YEAR OUT FROM WEDDING DAY

How/where did you get engaged?
We got engaged in St. Augustine under “The Love Tree”. The Love Tree is a palm tree growing in the middle of an oak tree. Myth is, if you kiss your loved one under that tree you will be together forever. I thought we were just going to kiss under the tree and go back to doing tours, but he surprised me when he got on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him.

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
What I am most excited for on our wedding day is having all our family together as we celebrate our unity.

What aspect are you excited to plan the most? (ceremony, food & beverages, photographer, DJ)
I’m most excited for planning our ceremony. I feel like that’s the most important part. That’s when two become one and we’ll be able to do that in front of our loved ones.

SEVEN MONTHS OUT FROM WEDDING DAY

How do you feel the planning is going?
What have you found to be more difficult than you expected?

What has been more fun about the process than you expected?
I felt as everything was coming along little by little but then we were hit with the pandemic. COVID-19 put a big dent in our life. Everything had to be put on hold. My fiancé lost his job, and we were worried about how exactly we were going to make things happen. But because we have such a supportive family, we are able to continue with our wedding planning. We also started to look at where we could make some budget cuts, which was hard for us as we thought we had most of it figured out and had already planned accordingly. We started looking at some floral decorations so that we could use fake flowers for some things, and then budget for the ones that I absolutely wanted to be real. My mother-in-law is extremely crafty, so she’ll assisted me in making some of the center pieces along with other DIY decorations. The ideas came along really nicely. I have to say, some of the planning on the DIY pieces are really fun and gave us some more hope and kept reminding us that our day was really going to happen. I guess no matter how hard things get the only way to get through it is to still look forward to the day of our wedding with a positive outcome.

WEDDING DAY

What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?
The most memorable part of the day was looking at my husband while I was walking down the aisle and feeling emotional because everything was right at that point, and no matter what else happened, that was perfect.

If you could change one or two things about your event, what would they be?
If I could change anything it would be to not worry about anything. Sure, you can think about it, consider it, change things, but worrying just doesn’t work as it is our day and no one else’s. The whole day was rainy, and I had everyone asking about moving the ceremony indoors. The venue was definitely on top of everything. At first, it was hard to trust someone with one of the most important days of your life, but once I did it was very reassuring throughout every step of the process. So when Bonny said she had it under control, she definitely did which took any concern for the day away.

Is there any advice you would give other couples planning their event that you wish someone had told you?
The most important advice I can give any couple planning their wedding is not to worry about offending anyone. I tiptoed around everyone’s feelings and I still had people upset or offended by certain things. It’s your day and no one else’s. Be clear and firm about what you want and don’t change anything that is important to you for anyone. It’s truly is your day!
