EIGHT MONTHS OUT

How/where did you get engaged?
We got engaged on Anna Maria Island, right on the beach at sunset surrounded by both of our families. It was perfect!

What are you most excited about for your wedding day? 
We are really excited to celebrate such an important day with our friends and family as they all have played a huge part in our lives, and we can't wait to have them there as we say, “I do.”

What aspect are you excited to plan the most? (ceremony, food & beverages, photographer, DJ) 
We are most excited to plan the food and the cake because it means we get to do a lot of tastings!

FOUR MONTHS OUT

How do you feel the planning is going?
For the most part, planning is going smoothly. A few hiccups here or there, but absolutely nothing major, nor concerning at this point.

What have you found to be more difficult than you expected?
Managing the guest list is tougher than we thought! We want everyone to be included, so it's presented a challenge for us.

What has been more fun about the process than you expected?
Working with our entertainment vendor has been so much fun. We hired The Bay King Band and they really want to make sure all of the songs selected and played for the reception are just right. It's been fun and unexpected to be that involved in the music selection, and we love it!

WEDDING DAY

What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?
The most memorable part of the day was our first look! It was so amazing to get to see each other and have those few quiet moments prior to starting the ceremony. It was such a sweet time and got out the jitters, so all that was left was excitement and joy walking down the aisle.

If you could change one or two things about your event, what would they be?
If I could change one thing it would be to not have worried or be too focused on the small details. Some of them wound up being a lot of stress for something that really didn't matter in the end. Instead, focus that energy on being fully present in the moment and trust the coordinators and vendors to do what they do best! Also, we wish we had taken a few lessons and learned how to dance better prior to our first dance. We used the "wing-it" approach, but things would've gone much smoother with some practice!

Is there any advice you would give other couples planning their event that you wish someone had told you?
Do what makes you as a couple happy and excited. If that trendy dress or certain food offering makes you excited, go for it! When it's all over, you're going to remember what made you both happy, not other people. A wedding is meant to be a reflection of you as a couple, so don't worry about what others may think!
