Meet Your Dedicated Team Member – Chef Niegel Blas

Five Questions with Chef Niegel Blas:

How many years have you been with Dubsdread Catering?
I recently started working with the Dubsdread Catering Team as of the Spring of 2022. 

What is your college and/or life experience that prepared you for this position?
I worked at the Swan and Dolphin on the Walt Disney World property for more than six years. I did everything from banquets to purchasing and receiving and vendor relations. A big project was when I oversaw the opening of a new lobby bar and grab-n-go restaurant. I met so many great people who helped mold me into the chef I am today, including Chef Jonathan Hill, who I am happy to be working with again. 

What are your plans for your future career/personal growth?
Just continue to push myself each day and learn what I can about food and the industry. When I first started, I was working for a small restaurant group the Director of Operations would always say, “We should not be okay with things just being okay. If we can make it better, and turn okay to great, then why don’t we do that or figure out how to get there.” That has always resonated with me and it’s something I’ve brought with me to every role since then.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Getting a good workout in is important to me. It helps me clear my mind and readies me for the day.

What do you enjoy most about your position?
Being able to work with such an amazing team. We all have an incredible amount of experience and talents in the kitchen, and for every one of us to be able to put aside our ego and work together as a team is more than I can put into words.
