Here Catherine shares her experience and answers to some frequently asked questions:

How long have you been in the industry?
I officiated my first ceremony as a professional Wedding Officiant on March 6, 2015. It was a surprise ceremony that took place between the hibachi grills at Kobe Steakhouse!

How many ceremonies do you do annually? (can be approx. of course)
I officiate approximately 120 ceremonies per year. This year I am scheduled to officiate more than 150.

What is your favorite part of the ceremony planning process?
I love hearing each couple's "love story". From the first time they met, first impressions, awkward first dates, engagements, and everything in between! And of course, I love meeting ALL the pets via video meetings.

How would you describe your style?
Upbeat, fun, warm, and personal.

What kind of packages do you offer?
Every ceremony is customized for each couple, so I don't currently offer set packages. I meet with every couple to discuss the details of their ceremony. Following the initial meeting I draft a ceremony script and plan for the couple to review, make any edits they would like, provide final pricing, secure a small retainer and assure that everything will be absolutely perfect for their wedding day.

How far in advance do you recommend couples book their officiant?
If a couple has a particular vendor they want for their wedding, they should book them ASAP! Pretty much if there is a vendor you want and you have a date – book it! Coming up, we have some very popular dates like: 3/21/21, 4/3/21 or 12/3/21; and 2/22/22 is on a Tuesday and is gearing up to be a VERY popular wedding date.

What advice do you give to couples when choosing an officiant?
Take your time and do the research. You want to look at websites, online listings, read reviews and watch videos from previous ceremonies. After all of that, when you start doing interviews, you just want to find someone you click with.

What is a pet peeve of yours during the planning process? (something the couple may not be aware of)
My only pet peeve is when a couple is too afraid to break tradition and have the wedding they want. Even if it is little touches like a cake topper that includes their fur-babies, walking down the aisle to a string quartet version of The Imperial March, or a random sorting hat from Harry Potter placed on the welcome table, it doesn't have to be over the top to be a little more unique. It’s their day and they should feel comfortable expressing themselves.

What sets you apart from other officiants?
During the ceremony planning process, I enjoy thinking outside the box and spit-balling ideas to create a unique experience that is true to the couple. If a couple wants to mix guacamole or build a lightsaber during their ceremony, we can do it!
