ONE YEAR OUT:

How/where did you get engaged?
We took a ski trip with a few close friends to Park City, UT this past February. Sammy popped the question at a beautiful rooftop bar at the St. Regis in Deer Valley. Even though he isn't a fan of the cold weather he knows that the mountains are my favorite scenery, and it was a gorgeous view.

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
We are both really looking forward to the reception and just having a great time partying with all our friends.

What aspect are you excited to plan the most? (Ceremony, food & beverages, photographer, DJ)
I'm really looking forward to planning the reception. We have so many fun ideas and I can't wait to see it all come together.

A FEW MONTHS OUT / PLANNING PROCESS:

How do you feel the planning is going?
I feel like the planning has been going great and we are both having so much fun with it! We are right in the middle of it, so we booked all of our vendors a while ago and now they have just started reaching back out to us for the next stages of planning.

What have you found to be more difficult than you expected?
Keeping the guest count to a minimum. Getting started, we thought we were going to have a smaller sized wedding and you continue to find more and more people you want to invite.

What has been more fun about the process than you expected?
Trying to incorporate our own little details into the event that make it personal for us. I thought the whole process would feel too overwhelming and too structured to plan out the little things, but we quickly learned we've had more fun working on making this day exactly what we want it to be. Those little personal details are making the day feel more and more special.

WEDDING DAY:

What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?
Dancing the night away with our friends! We had such a blast and our DJ played great music to get everyone on the dance floor. Another memorable moment was when we actually had some time to sit alone at the sweetheart table to eat. We got to take a few minutes to ourselves to enjoy the day and talk about our favorite moments.

If you could change one or two things about your event, what would they be?
Honestly, there isn't much I would have changed. To us it was the perfect day and we had so much fun. My only regret is feeling like I didn't have enough time to talk with all our guests that attended.

Is there any advice you would give other couples planning their event that you wish some-one had told you?
The best advice I was given beforehand that I would pass along is to take a moment to cherish at least 5 different moments that day. Take a deep breath and a mental picture of what's going on in that moment. It's so easy to get caught up in the details or the timeline which makes you feel like the day went by too fast or it was all a blur. Take a second to cherish individual moments with your new spouse to make each moment memorable and give yourself time to enjoy the whole day.
