Pro Tip Q&A: What Are the Best Themes You’ve Seen?

When event planning is underway, our Dubsdread Catering Event Team gets asked for their professional opinions on everything from wedding traditions to flowers, to food. One of the questions our team gets asked is what themes they’ve seen from recent weddings that were exceptionally well done. So, we thought we’d ask our team to share their observations here for your consideration.

Peighton Ballant: One of my favorites was a Game of Thrones/ House of Dragons themed reception. I really liked this one because if you watched the shows, you knew what it was, but if you didn’t, it just felt medieval and different. Also, as a UCF graduate, I love when couples invite the mascot Knightro to be part of their day. I've seen everything from Knightro giving away the bride, to Knightro leading cheers at the reception. It always adds a bit of fun!

Christiana Bullard: I haven’t yet experienced one, though I saw photos from one of our receptions with an Pixar’s Up theme that was just adorable. They pulled it through from shoes, to cake, to décor and it was just so well done.

Shanna Paris: Rustic is my favorite and might be our most popular, yet every one has been unique and different. Using wooden stumps, baby’s breath, mason jars, naked cakes, and more to pull through a simple, yet warm feeling, I’ve seen many beautiful executions.

Michelle Edmiston: I coordinated a wedding that executed a Superhero theme extremely well from beginning to end. They even had all guests bring superhero costumes to change into after ceremony. It was fun and funny and thoughtful details pulled it all together.

David Osmola: I’ve seen a lot of Star Wars themed weddings, but the best had to be one where at the end of the ceremony, the groom fought Darth Vader in a light saber battle so the couple could walk back down the aisle. Everyone thought it was awesome.

Carissa Llewellyn-Burns:  I prefer more of a Spring or Garden theme versus a TV show, Movie, Sports, etc. Some couples are so creative though so it’s amazing and fun to see their spin. I’ve seen some FANTASTIC Halloween themes in my years that I didn’t think anyone could actually pull off, but they did!

Kristen Berry: I’m a big fan of florals and greenery, so any sort of extravagant floral design carried throughout the event is a winner in my book.
